Is it a block-building game or a shooter?

It is neither, and the part you do by hand is the building. In a world where civilization collapsed when energy ran out, you pick and place the blocks that form your fortress. There are about 40 block types with different functions, and 100+ weapons and characters to mount on them.

Once a fight starts the fortress fights by itself, so placement is the only thing your hands do. Reports say the combination you choose changes the fortress's attack style and durability. Whether you end up reworking the layout each time parts come in is something you would have to play to know. The 32-second official launch video below is titled as a wasteland mobile-fortress auto-battler.

What do you do in the first hour after install?

Progress runs from pioneering and resource gathering to production, fortress upgrades and challenges in new regions. Content comes in three forms: the Parts Dungeon, where endless waves drop fortress parts; the Giant Boss Challenge, where you check whether your build works; and the Arena, where you fight fortresses designed by other players.

Where do the 1,000+ free draws come from?

At launch, welcome missions and events for new players give 1,000+ free draws in total, and every player receives Rapid Growth Supplies to speed up the early game. If you pre-registered, you get 10 character summon tickets, 10 weapon summon tickets, 50,000 gold, 30 energy and 5 steel plates at launch.

Added up, the pre-registration reward is 20 summon tickets (10 character, 10 weapon) plus 50,000 gold, 30 energy and 5 steel plates. The 1,000+ free draws are a separate launch-event figure.

Is it too late to start now?

The game is under three weeks old, and the pre-registration rewards and welcome missions can still be claimed if you start now. Pre-registration opened on August 28 and the full launch came on September 22. The event end date has not been made public, so check the in-game notice right after installing. Judge the fun and difficulty after your first 20 minutes.

HYPERRISE is described as a Haegin subsidiary, and CEO Won-keun Lee said he hopes many players will enjoy building their own mobile fortress. It is too early to say whether the game will last. What can be confirmed now is the fortress-building rule and the rewards open to new players.
