Google sign-in connects only when you choose it. We store your chosen public nickname, hashed identity, contributions, recommendations and optional notification subscription. Adsterra native advertising
As of September 22, 2026, the homepage, populated categories and articles integrate Adsterra native advertising. From September 27, 2026, visitors from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, or whose country cannot be determined, do not contact the network until Allow external ads is selected. Elsewhere ads are shown by default and can be turned off at any time with Hide ads or the footer Ads & video settings. The country is used only for this decision and is not stored. When ads are shown, the network and partners may use IP address, browser/device and page information and cookies for delivery and measurement. Choices in Ads & video settings are saved in this browser for up to 180 days. An in-article choice applies to the tab session. Withdraw through the footer settings to reload and stop loaded resources. We do not load it when GPC or Do Not Track is enabled.
Optional image research
On selected articles we compare two illustrations. Only after you opt in below an image do subsequent visits receive a random A or B assignment and participate in measurement. Without consent we show the default image and send no experiment data. We also respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.
Records contain a random session ID, experiment, language, assigned image and timestamps for assignment, image visibility, engagement and next-article clicks. Visibility requires at least half of the image on screen for one second. Engagement requires 30 seconds in the active tab after visibility and reaching 50% of the article. Our experiment database does not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, device fingerprints, search terms or full browsing histories. Hosting providers separately process technical data for delivery and security.
Your choice is remembered in this browser’s localStorage for 90 days. The random ID is kept in sessionStorage to deduplicate repeat visits in the same tab and is valid for up to 24 hours. We do not identify people across devices. Records are stored in Cloudflare D1 and removed by daily cleanup after 45 days (up to 24 additional hours before removal). Experiment records are not provided to advertisers.

What this site stores
Account and comment data are handled as explained in the community notice above. Language preferences and dismissed interface prompts are stored only in your browser. We do not place affiliate tracking cookies before you choose to follow a referral link. From September 29, 2026, clicks on affiliate links are counted only as totals by date, link type and page address. No IP address, device information or cookie is stored. Cloudflare Web Analytics provides cookieless aggregate page-view and performance statistics using information such as page/referrer URLs, browser, and performance data.
Google advertising and privacy choices
AdSense ad scripts on this site are disabled from September 22, 2026. Ownership verification and review details remain in place; Adsterra is the current display provider. See Google’s policy below for information about previously processed Google advertising data.

Cloudflare delivers and protects the site and may process technical data such as IP addresses and request information. External sites have their own privacy policies when you follow their links.

YouTube connects after permission in Ads & video settings or its allow button. X, Instagram and Threads still require an individual load action. The provider may receive your IP address, browser information, and referrer and use cookies. YouTube uses its privacy-enhanced domain, which does not eliminate third-party data processing. Once allowed, one YouTube video may play muted when more than half visible, pausing offscreen or in a hidden tab. Save Data and reduced-motion preferences disable automatic starts. Browser restrictions may require the play button; original links remain available.
Email and deletion requests
Enquiry emails are used to handle your request. Information is removed when no longer needed unless retention is required by law. Clear this site’s browser data to remove locally stored preferences.
