Optional image research
On selected articles we compare two illustrations. Only after you opt in below an image do subsequent visits receive a random A or B assignment and participate in measurement. Without consent we show the default image and send no experiment data. We also respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.
Records contain a random session ID, experiment, language, assigned image and timestamps for assignment, image visibility, engagement and next-article clicks. Visibility requires at least half of the image on screen for one second. Engagement requires 30 seconds in the active tab after visibility and reaching 50% of the article. Our experiment database does not store names, email addresses, IP addresses, device fingerprints, search terms or full browsing histories. Hosting providers separately process technical data for delivery and security.
Your choice is remembered in this browser’s localStorage for 90 days. The random ID is kept in sessionStorage to deduplicate repeat visits in the same tab and is valid for up to 24 hours. We do not identify people across devices. Records are stored in Cloudflare D1 and removed by daily cleanup after 45 days (up to 24 additional hours before removal). Experiment records are not provided to advertisers.

What this site stores
There are no accounts or comments. Language preferences and dismissed interface prompts are stored only in your browser. We install no advertising scripts or affiliate tracking cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics provides cookieless aggregate page-view and performance statistics using information such as page/referrer URLs, browser, and performance data.
Hosting and external links
Cloudflare delivers and protects the site and may process technical data such as IP addresses and request information. External sites have their own privacy policies when you follow their links.

YouTube, X, Instagram, and Threads connect only after you choose to load an item. The provider may receive your IP address, browser information, and referrer and use cookies. YouTube uses its privacy-enhanced domain, which does not eliminate third-party data processing. We do not autoplay; an original-source link is always available.
Email and deletion requests
Enquiry emails are used to handle your request. Information is removed when no longer needed unless retention is required by law. Clear this site’s browser data to remove locally stored preferences.
